Over the weekend, popular advertising network Chitika released a
report breaking down the percentages of web searching via devices.
According to AllthingsD.com,
mobile devices now make up 20 percent of all web searches. This number
has risen over the last few years and is expected to continue to climb
with the advancement of technology and manufacturers releasing mobile
devices.

Roughly 15 percent of the mobile web searching comes from smart
phones. Of this group, Windows Phone is climbing up the rankings due to
its more internet friendly search application. Apple products comprise
roughly 72% of the mobile devices in this report, with Android devices
coming in second at 26%.

Tablets make up roughly 5 percent of the mobile web searching
traffic. However, this category is dominated by Apple’s iPad with 95% of
the web searches.  Not only does Apple dominate in this report, but
they also dominate in actual units sold as the company took in 67% of
the shares during the 1st quarter of 2012.

Chitika’s report indicated that roughly 80% of all web traffic still
comes from PC’s. This number is a bit surprising due to the huge
technological shift to mobile devices. Windows makes up 85% of the web
traffic with Mac devices coming in second with 13%.
